SIAM Books go electronic
On January 31, 2011, SIAM books officially entered the electronic age with SIAM’s new e-book program for libraries and institutions, making hundreds of new and classic SIAM titles available to online readers all over the world.
Hosted by the same AIP/Scitation platform as SIAM Journals, e-books improve accessibility to SIAM publications worldwide, featuring titles written by internationally renowned experts spanning a wide range of topic areas in applied mathematics and computational science. Starting with roughly half the books in the collection, the program will gradually expand over the next few months to encompass almost the entire SIAM library of over 400 titles. New editors-in-chief for SIAM Journals
SIAM is pleased to announce that new editors-in-chief are at the helm of three journals.
Professor Jorge Nocedal is the new Editor-in-Chief of the SIAM Journal on Optimization (SIOPT). A professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Northwestern University, his research interest is in the intersection of computer science, operations research and applied mathematics.
Dr. Nocedal’s research work emphasizes applications of optimization and scientific computing in the physical sciences, computer-aided design, financial engineering and machine learning, aligning closely with the editorial focus of the journal. A highly cited researcher, Dr. Nocedal and his group have developed algorithms and software that are used extensively in science and business.
