At the end of 2010, SIAM initiated a new Member Get a Member program to encourage SIAM members to invite their colleagues to join SIAM. To launch the new program, SIAM held a contest. For every member who referred a colleague who subsequently joined SIAM as a new member between November 8, 2010 and March 31, 2011, both the person making the referral and the new member were entered into a drawing to win a prize. The drawing was held April 7, 2011. The following names were randomly selected from all those eligible to win a prize:

Bill X Hu of Florida State University won an additional year of SIAM membership. Bill was referred by his colleage SIAM member Lynn Bennethum.

Jeremy Kozdon of Stanford University won a free registration to the SIAM conference of his choice. Jeremey referred his colleague Eric Dunham who joined SIAM as a result.

Henning Meyerhenke of Georgia Institute of Technology won a free SIAM book of his choice. Henning was referred by his colleague SIAM member Jason Riedy.

Zhen Liu of Missouri University of Science & Technology won a SIAM t-shirt. Zhen referred his colleague Ruwen Qin who joined SIAM as a result.
