On January 31, 2011, SIAM books officially entered the electronic age with SIAM’s new e-book program for libraries and institutions, making hundreds of new and classic SIAM titles available to online readers all over the world.
Hosted by the same AIP/Scitation platform as SIAM Journals, e-books improve accessibility to SIAM publications worldwide, featuring titles written by internationally renowned experts spanning a wide range of topic areas in applied mathematics and computational science. Starting with roughly half the books in the collection, the program will gradually expand over the next few months to encompass almost the entire SIAM library of over 400 titles. Books published hereafter will be available online immediately upon publication.
Articles will be universally accessible on all browser and computer types; stored in PDF format; viewable by individual chapters; searchable by specific keywords; and cross-searchable with SIAM Journals.
The e-book program allows institutions to access SIAM books via purchase or subscription. Perpetual access grants organizations the right to use all e-books available through the program including those published during the year of purchase without limit or expiration. Institutions that purchase perpetual access may also choose to subscribe in future years so that they obtain perpetual access to subsequent SIAM books. Annual subscriptions provide unlimited access to all titles in the e-book program, and any new books published during that calendar year. Annual subscribers who choose not to renew retain access to books published during their subscription year. SIAM member institutions receive 20% off the list price on e-book access plans. Through June 30, 2011, an introductory 20% discount off the list or member pricing will be available to all purchasers and subscribers.
